Originally Farr's Mill. Named for Albert Farr, Methodist Minister. First settled about 1832 on Zavala Land Grant, though which a military and stagecoach route later passed. Noted for its water mill, grist mill, cotton gin, sawmill, tanning vats and large pre-Civil War plantations.
