Marker Text

This congregation and the Community it serves take their names from the early settlers from Georgia who camped on the nearby creek. According to records, the fellowship was founded before 1880. During the 1880s, the congregation sponsored two missionaries, Z.C. and Joe Taylor, from its membership. The members shared a church building with Methodists in the area until they erected their own sanctuary in 1866. Over the years, Georgia Camp Baptist Church has also placed a strong emphasis on music.
