Joshua, Johnson County
Along with two partners, Sam Bass, daring Texas outlaw, stopped a Fort Worth-Cleburne stage near here Dec. 20, 1877. Without firing a shot, they disarmed the driver, robbed passengers of $11.25. One outlaw, shot by a witness, was left by Bass to die. Less than a year later, Bass too was slain.
