First East Bernard School

Built 1888 a mile north of town (so trains would not disturb). Moved to town, 1892. Making way for new 2-story school, was sold and moved 1895 by Herman W. Koym. Used since for gristmill, blacksmith shop, storage. (1965)

Location Description Wharton County Historical Museum. The building was designated an RTHL in 1962 in East Bernard, and the marker and a portion of the building was moved to an exhibit in the museum in Wharton in 1991. Map dot approximate.
