The Cypress Creek School

Pioneer German settlers of the Cypressville community, later known as Cypress Creek, formed a school district in 1879. The original frame schoolhouse was replaced by this structure in 1908. Built of limestone quarried on Otto Lich's property, it was completed under the supervision of stonemasons Charles and Otto Bartel. Classes were held in the Cypress Creek School until 1942, when it was consolidated with the Comfort School District. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark - 1982
